MerseyBIO to Showcase Local Art
THE MerseyBIO business incubator, in Liverpool, is staging a further exhibition of local artwork along its corridors and public areas.
The latest exhibition opened on January 28 and showcases Stephanie de Leng’s celebrated and acclaimed photography book, People in Liverpool, and will run until March 10.
MerseyBIO is home to 11 life sciences companies and is owned by the University of Liverpool and managed on its behalf by 2Bio.
The firm took the initiative to brighten the communal areas and wall spaces with exhibitions of artworks by local artists.
People in Liverpool is the 10th private exhibition to be displayed within the building. Previous ones have included local artists such as Ruth Ball, whose Glass Metal and Fire is now on display in the Walker Craft and Design Gallery.
Dr Rhys Roberts, director of 2Bio, said: “We initially staged our first exhibition last year to brighten up the walls of the building, and found it to have a very positive effect on morale.
“Businesses and staff have been very encouraging and our frequent international visitors have appreciated these unique artworks, which has helped to showcase the city abroad. Based on our experience, I would encourage other businesses and workplaces to support their local artists.”
