Liverpool Biomedical Research Centre Knowledge Exchange Workshop for Industry - Friday 5th February

The Liverpool Biomedical Research Centre will be hosting a Knowledge Exchange Breakfast Workshop at the Royal Liverpool and Broadgreen University Hospital Trust on Friday 5th February 2010. This workshop will connect the Northwest’s world-class higher education sector with industry at the forefront of cutting-edge microbial research.

This workshop will provide a dynamic two way process for industry colleagues to meet directly with the Centre’s top scientists to identify future research priorities and explore potential areas of collaboration through themed workshops. The workshops will focus on the hot topics of:

- Diagnostics
- Vaccines
- Drugs
- Materials Web-Based Tools

Members of the Biomedical Research Centre will be on hand to showcase developments in these key research areas and to exchange ideas and discuss future collaborative working, including the following eminent scientists:

- Professor Munir Pirmohamed: NHS Chair of Pharmacogenetics & Deputy Director, MRC Centre for Drug Safety Science

- Professor John Hunt, Head of Clinical Engineering Research Unit, University of Liverpool (UKCTE & UK Bio Tec)

- Professor Saye Khoo, Professor of Pharmacology, University of Liverpool and Honorary Consultant Physician in Infectious Diseases, Royal Liverpool Hospital

- Dr Stephen Gordon, Deputy Director of Liverpool Biomedical Research Centre and Senior Lecturer in Tropical Respiratory Medicine, Liverpool school of Tropical medicine

- Dr Giancarlo Biagini, Senior Lecturer in Molecular & Biochemical Parasitology, Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine
